Mrs. McDonald

1. Physical Science-  This course is designed to introduce students to the beginning concepts of physics, chemistry, and astronomy; to provide students with a basic knowledge of the physical and chemical phenomena encountered in everyday life; and to stimulate scientific thought and inquiry. This class is required for Freshman and is taught by Mrs. McDonald.

2. Astronomy You will study stars, planets, galaxies, black holes and relativity. Students will be required to have a minimum of 10 hours of nighttime observations with the telescope. College Prep Course. Taught by Mr. McDonald.

 3. Biology and Biology B-  Biology is a comprehensive study of the major areas of biology such as cells microorganisms, genetics, evolution, plants, animals, and ecology. The General concepts of development from simple to complex, evolutionary relationships, and the interactions of all organisms and their environments will be stressed. This class is required for Sophomores and is taught by either Mr. Gear or Mr. O'Toole.

4. Chemistry-  prerequisites: Physical Science, Algebra, Geometry and Biology. The course is a laboratory-oriented class with many lab experiments to help students learn the theories in chemistry through experimentation. A student can expect an average of one hour of homework per night. Taught by Mr. McDonald.

5. Sci Tech-  in this class you use the internet, lab interfaces, computers, lasers, spectroscopes and other scientific instruments, measuring the real world in all areas of science.  College Prep Course. Taught by Mr. McDonald.

6. Anatomy and Physiology-  This is a study of the cells, tissues, organs and systems that make up the human body. The course emphasizes the structures and functions and the contribution each makes to the survival of the individual. College Prep Course taught by Mr. O'Toole.

 7. Chem. Com-  prerequisite: Biology. This course of "Chemistry in the Community" is a study of the chemical properties of matter. It is designed for students who plan to pursue non-science careers. This course centers on chemistry-related technological issues now confronting our society and the world.  Taught by Mr. McDonald.

  8. Chemistry II-  prerequisites: Chemistry, current enrollment in Physics and the approval of the instructor. This course continues where chemistry left off and is to include qualitative analysis and organic chemistry. Advanced Placement Class.  Taught by Mr. McDonald.

9. Advanced Biology prerequisite: 1 year high school biology. Advanced biology will include many topics regularly covered in a college biology course. The course differs from the first High School course with respect to the kind of textbook used, the range and depth of topics covered, the kind of laboratory work done by the students, and the time and effort required of students. Taught by Mr. Gear.

10. Concept Physics prerequisites: Algebra, and the consent of the instructor. This class is designed to introduce students to physics at the conceptual level approach and allows the student to practice the scientific method. Designed for students going into life science areas. Taught by Mr. McDonald.

  11. Physics- prerequisites: current enrollment in Algebra II or Analysis or approval by the instructor. Physics is the study of the physical properties of matter. The energy relationship of matter and its changes take you into a study of topics such as velocity, acceleration, work, power, sound, heat, light, electricity, and nuclear energy.  Taught by Mr. McDonald.

12. Physics II-  prerequisites: Physics and approval of the instructor. Physics II is the course of physics using advanced mathematical concepts and allows the student to practice the scientific method and allows the student to take the AP exam. Physics II requires the use of Calculus. Advance Placement Class. Taught by Mr. McDonald.
